Day 1: Drive to Murchison Falls & Ziwa Rhino Tracking En-route
Your 5 days Murchison Falls & Kibale safari begins with an early breakfast, followed by a drive to Murchison Falls taking about 5-6 hours.
You will start from Kampala via the Gulu highway, then branch off for Rhino tracking at Ziwa, approximately 7 kms off the main route.
Day 2: Game Drive and Launch Cruise Excursion
After an early breakfast on the second day of your 5 days Murchison Falls & Kibale safari in Murchison Falls National Park, embark on an early morning game drive.
Today, expect to spot buffaloes, giraffes, antelopes, birds, warthogs, elephants, lions, and leopards.
After exploring the Northern circuit, return to enjoy lunch at your leisure, followed by an afternoon launch cruise.
Take a Nile boat cruise to view crocodiles, hippos, aquatic birds, and then trek to the top of the falls.
Day 3: Kibale Forest, 7-8 Hours’ Drive
Enjoy an early morning cup of coffee/tea, then check out of the lodge. Day 3 of your Uganda tour involves transferring to Kibale Forest, estimated to be a long 7-8 hour drive.
You will have a lunch stop en-route at Fort Portal, and overnight at Kibale Forest National Park in Kabarole district.
Day 4: Chimp Tracking in Kibale Forest from Kanyanchu
Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale NP starts after a briefing at 7:00-8:00 am. All briefing about chimp tracking rules starts at Kanyanchu Visitor Centre, just minutes’ walk away from Primate Lodge.
Expect to spend about 2-4 hours tracking chimpanzees, viewing other primates like grey-cheeked mangabeys, baboons, and L’Hoest’s monkeys.
Trek back from Kibale Forest after spending 1 hour with the chimp community. Enjoy lunch at your lodge and spend your evening at Bigodi wetland.
The swamp sanctuary houses 137 bird species, where you can sight Great Blue Turacos, papyrus gonoleks, butterflies, primates, and others.
Day 5: Departure
Enjoy breakfast at your leisure, then meet your driver for the return journey via Fort Portal, Mubende, and Mityana to Kampala – a 5-6 hours’ drive.
