Detailed 4-Day 2 Gorilla Treks Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Start the day with a warm welcome from our expert driver-guide who will brief you about what to expect on this 4-day double gorilla trekking safari.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is situated in the southwestern part of Uganda, not far from the giant Virunga chain of Mountains.
The drive takes between 8-9 hours through a route decorated with captivating landscapes, plantations, and active towns where locals are excited at the sight of any safari vehicle.
You will have an en-route stopover for refreshments and lunch. Afterward, proceed with the drive to one of the sectors of the park, then check into your lodge for dinner and a peaceful rest.
Day 2: 1st Gorilla Trek
After an early morning breakfast, pick up your packed lunch, water, and camera, and dress in hiking attire. Depart for the sector headquarters to register and be briefed by the experts about the life of mountain gorillas and what to do during the trekking exercise.
A maximum of 8 people will be allocated to one gorilla group to trek, following their rhythm; the search can last roughly 1-8 hours.
The misty jungle of Bwindi is safe, and walking in the rugged terrain is quite tiresome but fun as you encounter several monkeys, amphibians, baboons, and sometimes forest elephants.
Upon meeting the group, spend an hour taking photos and studying the appearance and unique behavior of these Bwindi mountain gorillas, which are said to be relatively different from others in the Virunga chain of mountains.
After the encounter, have a lunch break and return to the lodge for relaxation.
The remainder of the day is free for your own activities. Dinner and overnight stay mark the end of today’s adventures.
Day 3: 2nd Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Pygmies Encounter
After a delicious breakfast, return to the park for a reunion with a new gorilla family.
Park rangers will brief you again about the new gorilla family and proper behavior in their presence.
Each gorilla group has distinctive behaviors, family members, and a dominant silverback.
Expect to encounter several other primates such as monkeys and chimpanzees en route to where your group is feeding or relaxing.
The trekking exercise lasts roughly 1-6 hours depending on your pace and the direction the apes have moved.
Encounter these great apes in their natural habitat, take amazing photos, and get your questions answered before returning to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, enjoy a two-hour village walk, entertainment, and stories within the Batwa Pygmies community.
The Batwa people are renowned hunters and gatherers struggling to adapt to the modern world after spending most of their lives in the forest.
Their life stories are worth listening to. After this amazing interaction, return to the lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 4: Departure
After breakfast, bid farewell to your new friends and check out for a transfer to Kampala, the capital of Uganda, or Entebbe International Airport for your flight.
There will be an en-route stopover at the equator to observe this marginal line crossing only thirteen countries in the world, dividing the earth into northern and southern hemispheres.
End of Safari.
