Detailed 2-Day Kigali to Bwindi Gorilla Tour Itinerary
This 2 Days Uganda gorilla safari can be carried out in three ways: arriving and departing from Uganda, arriving and departing from Rwanda, or arriving from Uganda and departing from Rwanda.
The best option is to travel through Rwanda and depart from there. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is just 4 hours away from Kigali City.
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Depending on your arrival point (Uganda or Rwanda), you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park by road or flight.
If you are traveling from Kampala, you will stop at the Equator for coffee and photography, have lunch in Mbarara Town, and then continue to Kisoro.
If arriving from Kigali, Rwanda, you will first have a brief city tour and then proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via the northern province of the country.
If flying from Kampala, your journey will be shorter, taking a maximum of 2 hours.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Departure
Rise early and enjoy breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for the 7:30 pre-briefing meeting.
During this meeting, park officials will provide essential information about gorilla trekking. Pay close attention to their instructions.
Following the briefing, you will be grouped into teams of 8 and assigned to visit random mountain gorilla families.
Gorilla trekking is a physically demanding activity that can last from 2 to 8 hours, depending on how quickly the gorillas are located.
Park rangers precede your group to locate the gorillas and guide you efficiently.
Upon encountering the gorillas, you will spend 1 hour observing them before returning to the park headquarters to receive your gorilla tracking certificates.
After the trek, you will immediately transfer to Kigali City to catch your departure flight.
Departing through Kampala carries a risk of delays if your trek lasts longer than anticipated, unless your departure is scheduled for the following day.
