A walking safari is a guided walk through a national park or protected area, with a game ranger accompanying you to observe animals up close.
We encourage our guests to experience walking in the wild at least once during their gorilla or wildlife tours.
Nature walks are different from walking safaris. Only two national parks in Uganda offer walking safaris, which usually take place early in the morning from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM or in the late afternoon from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
Lake Mburo National Park
Lake Mburo National Park is one of the most underrated but rewarding places to visit. We recommend this park for a walking safari.
It is home to the largest shy antelopes, leopards, giraffes, zebra herds, and impala, which are unique to this park. This walking safari offers an exciting experience.
As you learn from experienced ranger guides, you will feel like you are deep in the wild, with plenty of photo opportunities along the way.
Kidepo Valley National Park
Kidepo Valley National Park is one of the most natural parks in Uganda. Walking safaris here are rare but rewarding.
This park is home to one of the largest buffalo herds in East Africa and lion prides. Since fewer tourists visit this area, the experience feels more wild and peaceful.
Why Choose a Walking Safari?
Walking safaris are not widely marketed as part of tour packages, but we enjoy offering adventurous and unique activities while keeping safety in mind.
Many visitors do not know that walking is allowed in wildlife national parks or that this activity even exists. After a game drive, walking near the animals and enjoying breakfast in the bush adds to the experience.
An African wildlife and gorilla trekking trip becomes even more memorable with a walking safari.
