How to Travel to Uganda by Air
For tourists, flying is the easiest way to reach Uganda from any part of the world. Entebbe International Airport is the country’s only international airport and the main entry point for visitors.
Entebbe Airport (IATA: EBB, ICAO: HUEN), also called Entebbe International Airport, is the largest airport in Uganda. It serves the entire country and is Uganda’s main international airport.
The airport offers direct passenger flights to 27 destinations in 15 countries. There are also five domestic flights from Entebbe.
There are no direct flights to Uganda from the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, South America, Central America, China, Japan, Eastern Asia, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, or Oceania.
The only direct intercontinental flights from Entebbe International Airport (EBB) are to and from the Middle East and Europe.
The cheapest flights to Uganda are regional, including: South African Airways via Johannesburg, Ethiopian Airlines via Addis Ababa, RwandAir via Kigali and Kenya Airways via Nairobi.
There are also connecting flights from major cities worldwide.
Travelers may find it easier to book tickets to Entebbe through Kigali, Nairobi, Addis Ababa, or Johannesburg if there are no direct flights to Uganda. Uganda Airlines, the national carrier that started operations in August 2019, is expected to fill this gap.
The airline currently operates flights to East Africa, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Africa, and Somalia.
