This 6 Days Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi & Volcanoes National Park takes you to the misty jungle of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the southwestern part of Uganda; the Pearl of Africa, and to Volcanoes National Park located in the northern part of Rwanda – the Land of a Thousand Hills.
You will track the endangered mountain gorilla species in both destinations.
Mountain Gorillas live in high-altitude areas and can only be found in the continent of Africa, around the vast Virunga Chain of mountains, sprawling through Uganda, D.R. Congo, and Rwanda.
In addition to gorilla trekking, you will tour Kampala and Kigali city, visit the Batwa pygmies, and explore the twin lakes.

Detailed 6-Day Uganda Rwanda Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Kampala City Tour
Upon landing at Entebbe International Airport, our company representative will be glad to meet and welcome you to the Pearl of Africa. He will brief you about the itinerary and offer a glass of cold juice before setting off for Kampala city.
Along the drive, enjoy views of the largest freshwater lake in Africa, Lake Victoria, as well as the beautiful buildings and bustling Kampala city.
You will visit the independence monument and Uganda Museum with a mix of lunch before heading to your hotel around the city for refreshment, dinner, and peaceful slumber.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Brighten your morning with breakfast at the hotel and check out for an 8-9 hours transfer to the misty jungle of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park; the southwestern part of Uganda through Mbarara.
You have an en-route stopover at the equator for photos, lunch, and to watch geography demonstrations at the line crossed by the equator. Check-in at the lodge late in the evening for dinner and a peaceful nap.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking & Visit the Batwa People
After breakfast, set off for the park headquarters. You will meet other trekkers and together the ranger guides will verify your trekking documents and explain the trekking dos and don’ts.
Thereafter, the ranger guides will lead you to the jungle, starting the search from where the gorillas were last spotted to where they are feeding and relaxing.
You will have to tackle the hills and slopes just to have a way to the Gorillas, yet meeting other residents, primates, and residents to mention but a few. You will spend a maximum of an hour with the gorillas, taking photos and watching them play or feed.
Afterward, go back to the lodge for lunch, followed by an evening cultural tour with the Batwa Community, where you will enjoy the stories and songs. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Volcanoes National Park
After enjoying a peaceful nap, wake up to an energizing cup of coffee before checking out of the lodge for a transfer to Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda – the land of a thousand hills.
The journey lasts for roughly 4-5 hours, coupled with amazing views of rolling terraced hills, vibrant towns, and green vegetation.
You will have lunch en-route, yet arrive at the lodge near the national park in the evening; proceeding with check-in, followed by dinner and a nap.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park and twin lakes visit
Start your morning with a heavy breakfast meal at the lodge and thereafter head to the Park headquarters for registration and pre-trekking briefing by the ranger guides.
The briefing exercise lasts for roughly thirty minutes and the guides will assign up to a maximum of 8 people to a gorilla group for trekking.
One must be aged 15 years and above, with a valid trekking permit to be allowed an encounter with these gentle apes, regarded as man’s closest relatives.
You will spend about 1-7 hours tracking them, from where they were last spotted while encountering other park residents such as the forest mammals, baboons, L’Hoest’s Monkeys, and the white and black Colobus monkeys.
Upon finding mountain gorillas, you are given a maximum of one hour to take photos and study their unique Behavior. At this point, don’t forget the trekking rules and regulations, as stated from the start of the exercise.
After the reunion with a family of gorillas, return to the lodge for lunch before visiting the twin lakes for relaxation until dinner time and overnight at the lodge.
Day 6: Kigali City Tour and Departure
After breakfast at the lodge, check out for a 2-3 hours drive to Kigali city in Rwanda; the land of a thousand hills. Be amazed by the green vegetation cover, hospitality, and breathtaking landscape through the route you use.
Depending on the time of your flight, you will have a Kigali city tour visiting the genocide memorial site and local markets to purchase some souvenirs.
Enjoy your lunch at Kigali city before being dropped at Kigali International airport for your flight or at your hotel around Kigali City.
