7 Days Uganda Safari Overview

Uganda was gifted with so many sights and attractions. Unfortunately, you cannot see all of them in 7 days. This package combines some of the most interesting places to visit. Please see detailed plan below.

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

Right after breakfast, you will set off for Murchison Falls National Park in North western Uganda. You will have your lunch en route in Masindi District before proceeding to hike the top of the falls to see what happens behind the explosive Murchison Falls. After this adventurous hike, you will proceed to your safari lodge for an overnight. Overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge for luxury, Murchison River Lodge for Mid-Range or Red Chilli Rest Camp for budget.

Day 2: Game Viewing and Boat Cruise

Early morning after coffee, you will head for a morning game drive where you will see animals like Giraffes, Buffaloes, Elephants, Warthogs and more. This drive will last for 3 or 4 hours before you return to your lodge for breakfast, relaxation and lunch as you wait for your afternoon boat ride.

In the afternoon, you will head for a  boat ride on the Victoria Nile to the bottom of the falls. This ride is a perfect chance for you to see animals along the river banks as they hydrate. You will also see aquatic mammals like Crocodiles, Hippopotamuses along with several species of birds. When you reach the bottom of the falls, you will spend between 45 minutes to 1 hour around the most explosive waterfalls in the whole world. Overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge for luxury, Murchison River Lodge for Mid-Range or Red Chilli Rest Camp for budget.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

This day you transfer to Kibale Forest National Park – The biggest home of Chimpanzees in Uganda. You will wake up very early in the morning and start off with the drive, driving through Fort Portal town. Lunch will be served at Fort Portal before you climax your drive to Kibale Forest National Park.

When you arrive, you will immediately go for a swamp walk at Bigodi Wetlands – one of the best birding places in Uganda. A walk here will give you rare views of birds like the shoebill stock, along with other species.

Overnight at Kyaninga Lodge for luxury, Chimps Nest for moderate and Chimpanzee Forest Guest House for budget.

Driving Time: 4 hours

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to QENP

Rise up to an early morning breakfast and then make your way to the park headquarters before entering the forests to search for Chimpanzees. Chimpanzee trekking is awesome. Some chimps will jump on your back expecting you to carry them, others will try to peep under your blouse, some will get jealous when their men hit on female tourists plus a lot other dramatic acts. The experience can last up to five hours inclusive of a full hour encounter with these chimps.

After trekking the chimps, your guide will immediately transfer you to Queen Elizabeth National Park – The most popular safari park in Uganda. You will enjoy a skeptical evening game drive as you drive towards your lodge for an overnight stay.

Driving Time: 2 hours

Day 5: Game Viewing and Boat Ride

Wake up in the morning and head for a thrilling game viewing drive along the Kasenyi trails, one of the best areas for game viewing in Uganda. Here you will see animals like; kobs, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes plus several more wildlife species. The drive can last from 2 to 4 hours. You will return to the lodge after and have breakfast, lunch then head for an afternoon boat ride on the Kazinga channel.

A cruise along the Kazinga Channel is another opportunity to sight lots of wildlife that roam the banks of the river to hydrate. Several species of birds road around the channel as well. You will also get to see crocodiles, hippopotamuses and several other mammals in water.

After this activity, you will immediately transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Driving Time: 2 – 3 hours

Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking

This day you carry out an activity that can only be experienced in three countries; Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. This is mountain gorilla trekking. You will wake up to an early breakfast and then head to the park offices for briefing before making your way into the forests of Bwindi to search for the endangered mountain gorillas. The trek can last up to 8 hours depending on how long you take to locate the gorillas inclusive of a full hour encounter with these gentle primates.

At the end of mountain gorilla trekking, each of you will be awarded a gorilla trekking certificate showing corresponding with the mountain gorilla group you trekked. You will then head to your lodge to relax and kill off the fatigue of the day.

Day 7: Transfer to Kampala and Departure

Being the last day of your 7 Days Uganda Safari, we shall set off for Kampala in the morning if we are to make it there by evening. The drive is about 8 hours by road with a few interesting experiences along the way. As you drive, you will make a stopover at Mbarara for lunch and then proceed to the Equator in Masaka for the Equator Experience, photography and coffee.

Immediately after this experience, your guide will drive straight to Kampala and drop you at any accommodation place of your choice or at the airport to catch up with your departure flight.
