Uganda and Rwanda are very rich in primates. These two countries are very good destinations for primate safaris in Africa. Some of the primates that inhabit the forests of these countries include Chimpanzees, Mountain Gorillas, Golden Monkeys L’Hoest Monkeys, Colubus Monkeys and more. The main destination for Uganda primate safaris are Kibale Forest National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Kibale Forest is the primate capital of East Africa and slots up among the places with the highest concentration of primates in Africa. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest shelters over half the total number of the remaining mountain gorillas in the world.
Rwanda primate safaris take place in two destinations; Volcanoes National Park and Nyungwe Forest National Park. Rwanda gorillas and Golden Monkeys are found in PNV (Where Rwanda gorilla trekking safaris take place from) where as the Chimps are found in Nyungwe Forest. Below are some of our affordable primate tour packages for Uganda and Rwanda, please look through the packages and choose one of your interest.

Mountain Gorillas come in second at about 97%. This implicates these animals act no differently from humans. They are social and have feelings just like humans. Our primate safaris will get you close to these two primate species for a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Primate Safaris in Rwanda
When you are considering visiting Rwanda for primate safaris, endeavor to meet mountain gorillas if you can afford the gorilla tracking permit price and may be golden monkeys. Nyungwe Forest National Park is not a good place for Chimpanzee Trekking. The Chimpanzees there are very few and not habituated. Most of the clients who go there to trek Chimps end up just hearing sounds of their mobility on trees and rather not see them at all. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest in Uganda is far much better. You get to meet these chimps up close. Some even end up touching and hanging on you.
Primate Safaris in Uganda
Primate tours in Uganda are goldmine. Uganda is a perfect place for all sorts of primate safaris and has more numbers than Rwanda. Like Mentioned earlier, Bwindi harbors over half the remaining population of mountain gorillas where as Kibale Forest harbors the highest numbers of Chimpanzees in East Africa. Golden Monkeys are found in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park BUT the experience is not better than the one for Rwanda. Your main primate tracking activities in Uganda should be gorilla tracking and Chimpanzee tracking.
